Karen Rockwell, OTL, CMT combines her background in occupational therapy (Boston University, 1978) with her massage therapy skills (Virginia School of Massage, 1993) to provide you with a healing touch. Having over thirty years in adult physical disabilities, including employment since 2005 at UVa-HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, Karen integrates western medical knowledge with a variety of therapeutic massage and bodywork techniques.
In addition to a continuous massage practice since 1993 (with both Virginia certification and national accreditation), Karen has completed many additional courses. Most recently, in March of this year, she attended John Barnes' Myofascial Release seminar on cervical/thoracic treatment techniques in Sedona, Arizona .
Karen believes that it is easier to stay well than to get well, and as such subscribes to a number of mind body philosophies such as meditative practices, yoga, aromatherapy, acupuncture....and believes that massage provides an important facet to staying healthy.
When not working, Karen enjoys running with her fantastic running group, reading, exploring nature, as well as spending time with wonderful friends and visiting her two amazing daughters!
